Blogging, Illustrator, and Vector

I just thought blogging would be perfect to share the things I enjoy doing so here it is. I finally found time to sign up with wordpress and figure out the blogging stuff I needed to know.

Anyway, about two years ago I started using Adobe Illustrator, but it was only last year that I really learned using most of the tools and several techniques to create vector works. It’s definitely so much better to do vector stuff in Illustrator rather than in Photoshop. The shapes are easier to select and edit and we’re also talking about precision here. Once I’ve learned the essential tools and techniques, I got pretty much interested in vector. Here are some of my works. Enjoy!

  1. Thanks so much for your comment on my blog! It means that much more to me now that I see how talented you are. I got the whole CS4 last year and haven’t used Illustrator ONCE! I just remember back in my student days (a couple of decades ago) how complicated it seemed, but I really should at least try it out. Your work is inspiring! Keep vectoring/drawing and keep posting! I’ll add you blog to my blogroll. xx

    • hi smiler! thanks so much too for the comment and for reading my first blog entry πŸ™‚ if you’ve been using Photoshop, then it won’t be difficult to learn Illustrator. You’ll love it, give it a try πŸ™‚ I’m glad that you got inspired, and yes I think you should draw something today. Keep filling up your sketchbook with your lovely works. Cheers! πŸ™‚

Wow – for a beginning user of Illustrator, you’re doing great! Illustrator has a steep learning curve. I’ve been using it for many years and still don’t feel truly competent with it. But it’s my favorite digital illustrating tool.

    • Are you talking about Illustrator? If you’re a Photoshop user then you’ll be fine πŸ™‚ There are lots of online tutorials, once you understand the tools it would be easy. Goodluck πŸ™‚

      • Totally apologize when i made the previous reply it was fast (and i was falling sleep lol) yes I mean using, working and operating Adobe Illustrator or any other one for that matter.

We are currently working on logo designs for tshirts…we have no problem hiring help which is what we’ve done, but at times designers cant get things right or get back to you in time.

So we’re interested in striking out and doing it ourselves…which will be cost effective and the finished product we can be truly happy with.

        glad I found your blog

      • No problem with that πŸ™‚ Since you’re doing logo designs for shirts, Illustrator would be a great tool for you guys to learn yourselves. With a vector-based program like Illustrator, resizing images for print would be easy. You don’t have to worry about logos being pixelated and what not. Here are tutorial sites I would recommend for your learning:

        http://vectips.com/
        http://vector.tutsplus.com/

        Have fun!:)

  3. Thank you so much Just Doodle, there are tons of sites around, but some are a waste of time especially if your new to designing and doing vectors, so its always good to get a recommendation of sorts…i’ll add these links to my blog and add you to our blogroll.

  4. Thats actually Swaggtalk100 to you πŸ˜‰ thanks again also looking at the vectors here on your blog did you do them all yourself? if so what was the inspiration behind them?

    • Yes Swaggtalk100, I did all the vector stuff in my blog πŸ™‚ The inspiration behind them… that’s pretty hard to answer, but I actually enjoy drawing characters and I like my work to be colorful. When I learned using Illustrator, I tried doing vector works and I really enjoyed it. That inspired me to do more works of this kind. It’s really important that you enjoy what you do, so that’s probably what inspires me. And, I do keep like a sketch journal/notebook. I sketch a lot to keep ideas coming. I hope I answered your question πŸ˜‰

  5. All I can say is…WOW! I discovered your blog tonight and I am in love with your work. You’ve made and instant fan out of me. I can’t wait to pour through your archives and soak up some inspiration.
